Breaking News: Mark Blum, Dies Of Coronavirus Complications
Veteran stage actor Mark Blum, has just been reported dead
due to complications from coronavirus. Blum was 69.
Though he was best known for the 1985 film "Desperately
Seeking Susan," in which he starred alongside Madonna and Rosanna
Arquette, he recently appeared in supporting TV roles on the HBO series
"Succession," Netflix drama
"You" and Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle."
He was number-one in
the New York theatre community, regularly appearing on Broadway, including the
revival of the "Twelve Angry Men."
Blum was a customary player with Playwrights Horizons,
an off-Broadway theatre in New York. The company took to their official twitter
handle to remember him with a tribute which reads:
"With love and heavy hearts, Playwrights Horizons pays tribute to Mark Blum, a dear longtime friend and a consummate artist who passed this week, thank you, Mark, for all you brought to our theatre, and to theatres and audiences across the world. We will miss you dearly."
He is the second coronavirus-related death to shake the New
York theatre community. Earlier this week, members of the theatre community mourned
the loss of Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally, who also died
from coronavirus complications at 81.
