Coronavirus: Nigeria Records Second Death With 5 Patients Discharged




Dr. Osagie Ehanire, The Minister of Health, made this known to the public on Monday 30th March, 2020 in Abuja.

He made this known during the Presidential Task Force on press briefing. The minister said that the patient had underlying health issues. This now brings the total number of death from the virus to 2.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), had on 23 March announced the first death in Nigeria and the case was that of a 67 year old man who had returned to Nigeria after a medical treatment in the UK. 

It was also confirmed that he had pre-existing medical conditions including cancer and diabetes. He was a former MD of PPMC, a subsidiary of NNPC. Meanwhile in Lagos, there was encouraging news as 5 patients have recovered and have been discharged from the mainland hospital in Yaba on Monday. Which brings the total number of discharged persons to six in Nigeria.
