Niger State Orders For A Lock-down Due To Coronavirus




The Niger State Government has just declared a total lock-down in the state as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus. 

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello who made this known  in a state-wide broadcast on Monday March 23, 2020, declared ban of movement from 8am to 8pm. He also directed the shutting down of all Almajiri schools in the state with immediate effect.

He added that:
“All public gatherings have been banned from today. Only those carrying out essential services will be allowed.”

The Governor further disclosed that the lock-down order will be effective from Wednesday March 25. According to him, the decision was of essence due to the new cases of coronavirus emerging from Abuja which shares a common boundary with Niger State.
