Nigeria Record First Death Due To Covid 19




Nigeria has just recorded its first death from COVID -19 (Coronavirus).

The dreaded coronavirus plague ravaging the world, has claimed one life in Nigeria. The former Managing Director of Pipeline and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, Suleiman Achimugu,died early Monday morning, 23rd March, 2020, from the dreaded scourge. Late Mr Suleiman Achimugu died at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital,Gwagwalada,  and is the first coronavirus death recorded  in Nigeria. He was reported to have returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom just two weeks ago, according to reports, he started showing the COVID-19 symptoms from last Tuesday.

 It was gathered that the family  of the deceased contacted the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,(NCDC). It was gathered that they only took the blood specimen but didn’t take the deceased along with them neither did they report back to the family with the results. It was when the situation became more sever following profuse cough that the family again, reached out to the centre to know the result gotten from the blood specimen taken earlier. This was now when NCDC released the result, confirming that it turned out positive.

 A family member of the deceased confirmed that:
”Yesterday afternoon, he was coughing profusely, we then called the NCDC to inquire about his results. It turned out positive. We immediately rushed him to Gwagwalada. He died by 2am this morning. We the family are currently under quarantine in the house. Sadly NCDC will have to handle the burial of our beloved.”
An enquiry sent to NCDC for official confirmation was yet to be replied to  as at the time of writing this report
