Nigerian Federal Government Orders For The Closure of all Land Borders And Suspends FEC



As part measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus, the Federal government of Nigeria has announced the closure of all land borders and the indefinite suspension of the weekly Federal Executive Council FEC.

The Secretary General and chairman of presidential task force on Coronavirus, Boss Mustapha, made this known to the public at a press briefing today 23rd March, 2020. He said that the council of state meeting earlier slated for Thursday has also been postponed.

His statement reads:
“Ladies and gentlemen, after a further review, Mr. President on the recommendation of Presidential Task Force (PTF) has approved the following additional measures: Suspension of the weekly FEC meetings until further notice; postponement of the meeting of the Council of State which was slated for Thursday 26th March, 2020."

He also added that all land borders that were partial closed will now be closed even for human traffic for four weeks effective from 23rd March, 2020, this decision was taken in order to save from harm Federal Civil and Public Servants, a memo which will be issued by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF) shall give directions on actions to be taken immediately.
