COVID-19 Curfew: Ondo State NURTW Threatens To Sanction Erring Drivers

Ondo State National Union of Road Transport Workers has threatened to arrest and sanction any of its members that violates the dusk till dawn curfew ordered by the Ondo State governor, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

This curfew was imposed on the state as a preventive measure and also to help curb the spread of the virus in the state after 3 persons tested positive to the virus in the state. The governor said he had received reports that the ban on social gatherings that was earlier issued was not being adhered to by night clubs an bear parlors in the state.

Chairman of the Ondo state chapter of NURTW, Comrade Jacob Adebo, who briefed the journalists in Akure said that the union was concerned about this reports and that some commercial drivers were also yet to comply with the dusk to dawn curfew order in the state. He also disclosed that the union had set up a patrol team to arrest any of its members that goes against this order.

Comrade Jacob Adebo also said that he has beckoned on the leadership of all branches of NURTW in the state and have warned them on the importance of strict adherence to this order and also mobilizing all drivers to provide their necessary support.

He also stressed the need for professionalism in the side of the policemen in their conduct in enforcing the curfew.
