COVID19: South Korea to ship virus test kits to US

An official from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just reported that South Korea will be sending a shipment of Covid-19 testing kits to the United States on Tuesday afternoon.

Although the official did not reveal how many kits would be sent, but noted that the kits had been produced by two different manufacturers.

South Korea’s capability to test large numbers of people during a short period of time has been a main force contributing to the success in combating the virus.

SolGent, which is the first South Korean coronavirus test kit company registered for stockpile procurement by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has reported that it has shipped test kits for 150,000 persons in the US as at April 7th.

US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in had reportedly spoken on phone last month about the pandemic; Trump had also requested assistance in obtaining medical equipment from South Korea.
