FG Postpones WAEC, NECO Exams Indefinitely

The Federal Government of Nigeria has just announced the indefinite postponement of this year’s West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba who I the Minister of Education had revealed this during the Presidential Task Force briefing on the situation of the country on COVID-19 on Tuesday in Abuja. Both of this examinations were supposed to have started May and June respectively.

The Minister of Education had also mentioned that 15 other states have already started e-learning for pupils on their local TV station and radio channels during this stay at home order.
The Minister had appealed to parents to cooperate with the orders of the government to ensure that the children were made available to learn at the time scheduled and at the channels available for the e-learning.

The minister said that the government is also seeing to it that schools resume and according to him no schools is allowed to open until all efforts have been coordinated by the government. And he also added that the resumption of school is being affected by the lockdown in the various states in the country.
