JUST IN:The Philippines Became The Largest Covid-19 Outbreak In Southeast Asia With Nearly 5,000 cases
The Philippines has the highest number of Covid-19 infections in Southeast Asia.
By the end of April 13, the Philippines recorded 4,932 cases
of Covid-19 . The
country surpassed Malaysia, which had the highest virus infection since the
beginning of the epidemic, to become a new hot spot in Southeast Asia.
With 315 deaths, the Philippines ranked
second in the region in terms of deaths, just behind Indonesia.
Meanwhile, in Malaysia, 134 new cases were recorded
yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,817 and 77
deaths.
Singapore continues to witness a spike in cases. The
Ministry of Health on April 13 confirmed 386 new infections, bringing the total
number of infections in the island to 2,918. According to Reuters ,
the majority of new infections are linked to outbreaks in dormitories of
migrant workers.
Singapore officials are preparing to bring hundreds of
foreign workers to aboard ships commonly used for maritime and offshore
workers, as the island nation seeks an alternative to the dormitory where the
corona virus is located. is spreading rapidly.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong urged people to
calm down and unite to cope with the disease.
The countries with low Covid-19 cases in the region are
Myanmar (39 cases), Laos (19 cases), Brunei (136 cases), Cambodia (122 cases).
To date, Southeast Asian countries have recorded 20,387 cases
of corona virus infection, an increase of 1,155 cases in a day, of which 844
people have died.
