New Zealand Said It Had Defeated COVID-19

New Zealand had recorded 1,122 cases and up to 1,180 persons have recovered. That's why the country claims to have won the Covid-19 pandemic.

New Zealand's claim to "win" the Covid-19 war was confirmed by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at a press conference today in the capital Wellington.

Ms Ardern also said the country was beginning to relax, but stressed that people must remain vigilant in order to maintain this victory. Some businesses, food stores and schools in the country will be reopened.

New Zealand Prime Minister said that:
"There was no large-scale infection and was not detected in the community in New Zealand. We have won that battle."

To date, the nation of 5 million people recorded a total of 1,122 cases, of which 19 died and 1,180 had recovered. In the past 24 hours, New Zealand only had 1 more case.

However, Ms. Ardern said she still maintained the level 3 warning and did not risk losing her achievements with the health of New Zealanders.

"Everyone wants to resume the missing social connections. But to do that with confidence, we have to act slowly and carefully."
she said.
