Xiaomi To Launch A 150-Megapixel Smartphone

Xiaomi may launch the first smartphone with image sensor 150 "dots" of Samsung later this year.

Technology expert Ice Universe revealed on Twitter that Samsung has successfully developed a 150-megapixel image sensor for mobile devices. After Xiaomi, a number of other Chinese companies, such as Oppo and Vivo, are also expected to integrate 150-megapixel sensors on smartphones debuting in 2021.

Earlier, Xiaomi and Samsung collaborated on research and production of 108-megapixel Isocell Bright HM1 - the image sensor that Xiaomi introduced in the Mi CC9 Pro in 2019.

Samsung is working on cameras with ultra-high resolution and small size for mobile devices. Isocell Bright HM1 uses Nanocell pixel stitching technique, which enables sharp and detailed images to be recorded.

In addition, Isocell Plus technology with a grid between pixels helps reduce color noise, as well as better light capture.
Unlike the old sensor using a metal mesh that easily reflects or absorbs unwanted light, the baffle on the Isocell Plus is made from Fujifilm's special material.

In 2018, Naoto Yanagihara, Fujifilm Vice President, said the cooperation with Samsung is a remarkable step in the process of commercializing new materials as well as bringing useful improvements to mobile cameras. "
