Yahoo Boy Forfeits Exotic Cars And Gets Nine Months Jail Term

A special offence court in Ikeja, Lagos has just sentenced one Babatunde Rufai also known as Richard Abben to Nine months in prison for internet fraud.

He was convicted after pleading guilty to a three count charge based on stealing and obtaining money by false means for more than $5,000. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo has also ordered for 3 of his exotic cars which was recovered from the convict to be forfeited to the federal government. 

The convict was reportedly the owner and promoter of Wear It All Boutique located in Lekki, Lagos state, he was arrested by the EFCC, Lagos state Zonal office on the 5th of March 2020.

After the convict’s plea, EFCC counsel, Hamed Yerima, told the judge that the convict had struck a plea bargain deal with the team and pleaded with the court to consider giving him the same sentence in the terms of the agreement and the Justice had granted this plea.

However, Justice Taiwo held that even in view of the agreement the defendant is sentenced to 9months in prison with a fine of N400,000 to be paid into the account of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the EFCC office.
