AFRICA: 190,000 People Could Die Of COVID-19 If Not Effectively Prevented – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) on 8/5 warned that 190,000 people could die if the disease is not effectively prevented.

This warning is based on a database of 47 African countries with a total population of about 1 billion. According to AFP statistics, as of May 7, Africa has recorded a total of 53,334 cases and 2,065 deaths from COVID-19.

Some African countries are imposing containment measures to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus, while others are considering easing stringent measures.

Earlier this week, Nigeria lifted its blockade in Africa's most populous city, Lagos. South Africa last week also began to relax its tightening measures.
