Abia Governor Pardons 32 Inmates

Abia State Governor, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has just granted pardon to 32 inmates at the 3 correction facilities in Abia State.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Abia state, Uche Ihediwa who had revealed this at a briefing in Umuahia, Abia State capital mentioned that his committee upon receiving the list which the Attorney General of the Federation had sent to the Governor for consideration and approval had swung immediately into action to release them.

He further added that after the release of the inmates, the Federal Government, his committee wrote a letter to the governor of the state urging him to continue to exercise his power as enshrined in the constitution. 

He however added that those who were on the list that were released were inmates who had almost finished their jail terms. The statement added that with the pandemic going on it was only fit to allow them to go home.
