Benue COVID-19 Index Case Threatens To Sue NCDC If She Is Not Released Within 7 Days
Benue state COVID-19 index
case, Susan Idoko, has just threatened to sue NCDC if she is not released
from the isolation center within the next 7 days.
According to reports, she
has been having arguments with the government since she was diagnosed with the
virus. She has spent 53 days in the isolation center and still yet has not
showed any symptoms of the virus and she continues to insist that she does not
have the virus.
When questioned the
Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said that she had refused to let
the NCDC or any other medical personnel take samples from her to do a final
test to ascertain if she is free of the virus or not in order for her to be
discharged.
While addressing the press
on Friday in Abuja, her lawyer Mr. Steven Eke said that she had lost confidence
in the abilities of the NCDC and hence has demanded that an independent test be
conducted by the WHO under the supervision of the British High Commission and
her very own personal physician.
Her lawyer also said that
her continuous detention at the isolation center is violating her fundamental
human rights and that she will go to court if it continues.
However the Minister of
Health at the presidential task force daily press briefing in Abuja on Friday
14th May said that, he has finally convinced Mrs. Idoko to take the
test and that sample has been taken and that the result will be out in a few
days.
