BREAKING: Supreme Court Nullifies Orji Uzor Kalu’s Conviction

The Supreme Court today Friday, 7^th May, 2020 nullified all cases against the former governor of Abia State, Governor Orji Uzor Kalu.

The Former Governor was imprisoned due to a N7.65billion fraud which was perpetuated when he was still the governor of Abia State governor, which was from 1999 and 2007.

He was condemned alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and former Abia State director of finance, Ude Udeogu.

However, the Supreme Court today in judgment has declared that Justice Mohammed Idris that had convicted the former governor lacked the power to sentence him. 

The Supreme Court has therefore requested the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to reassign the case for trial.
