COVID-19: Latin America's Largest Airline Filed For Bankruptcy
LATAM Airlines - the
largest airline in Latin America on May 26, filed for bankruptcy in the US
after the business activities plummeted due to the Covid-19 acute respiratory
infection.
In a statement, the
Chilean-Brazilian airline stated:
"On May 26, LATAM Airlines Group has filed for restructuring under Chapter 11 Protection in the US."
while
stressing that the move will not immediately impact on passenger or cargo
flights.
Last month, LATAM Airlines
said it will reduce 95% of its operations in response to the global health
crisis, which has dealt a blow to the world's travel and travel sectors.
