COVID-19: The World Has More Than 76,000 Cases, More Than 3,500 Deaths In A Day
Statistics from Worldometers.info show that in the past 24
hours, the world recorded more than 76,000 new cases, over 3,500 deaths from
COVID-19. The epidemic situation in the US and Russia is still tense while
stable or on a downward trend in other countries.
According to Worldometers.info, up to 6am 10/5, there
were 4,085,642 COVID-19 cases worldwide, of which 279,511 were
fatal. The total number of new infections is more than 76,000, while the
number of deaths has increased by more than 3,500.
A pandemic of acute respiratory tract infection COVID-19 has
occurred in 212 countries and territories. The epidemic situation is still
serious in the US and Russia, while it has stabilized or tended to decrease in
other countries.
With the exception of the US and Russia, all countries
recorded the number of COVID-19 cases below 4,000 in the past 24

In Russia, according to the National Steering Committee for
the Prevention of COVID-19, the country recorded an additional 10,817 cases in
84 federal subjects, bringing the total number of infected people to
198,676. Moscow remains the region with the most people infected with the
SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In France, the number of deaths as of 6 am on 10.5 has
reached 26,310, an increase of 80 cases in the past 24 hours. According to
the French Ministry of Health, 100 million masks will be provided to people on
May 11, 50 million disposable masks will be issued to businesses and
localities.
Italy recorded 1,083 cases of COVID-19 on May 9, bringing
the total number of infections in the country to 218,268 cases, according to
the Italian Civil Protection Agency. Leaders of the Italian Institute of
High Health said the infection index (RO) is currently in the range of 0.5-0.7,
the number of infections is decreasing.
On the same day, May 9, 346 more people died from COVID-19,
bringing the total number of deaths to 31,587. Transport Secretary Grant
Shapps has called on people to adhere to social spacing, walk and cycle more.
The number of new cases and deaths from COVID-19 in Spain
has decreased. However, the total number of deaths in the country is
26,478, second only to the United States, Britain and Italy. Spanish Prime
Minister Pedro Sanchez warned that the COVID-19 epidemic was still a threat to
the South European nation.
In Ukraine, the Ministry of Health said it recorded 515
cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of patients
with the disease to 14,710. In addition, an additional 15 cases of
COVID-19 died, bringing the total number of deaths to 376.
Meanwhile, by the end of May 9, the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations (ASEAN) recorded a total of 57,080 cases of acute respiratory
infections (COVID-19), including 1,854 deaths.
Singapore is still the country with the highest number of
infections with 22,469 cases. Followed by Indonesia with 13,654 cases and
Philippines with 10,610 cases. The group with average number of cases in
ASEAN is Malaysia and Thailand. Meanwhile, Bruinei, Cambodia, Laos,
Timor-Leste and Vietnam are among the group with the lowest number of COVID-19
cases (less than 300 cases).
Particularly for deaths, Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste and
Vietnam have not recorded any deaths because of COVID-19. Meanwhile,
Indonesia had 959 deaths, the highest among ASEAN countries.
