Europe Extends Restrictions On Travel Ban To Minimize The Risk Of Infection

The European Commission (EC) has announced a proposal to continue closing the continental border for at least 30 days (until June 15), as one of the special measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson, it is time for Europe to give priority to the gradual removal of restrictions on free movement and control of internal borders.

However, the opening of the border as well as the guarantee of entry rights for non-essential purposes for non-EU citizens can only be conducted after travel within the EU is safe and not also obstacles.

The risk of spreading SARS-CoV-2 virus remains high, so the caution of leaders of European countries is necessary. The view to control movement to avoid the spread of disease is still supported by the leaders of the countries of the union.

However, analysts are concerned that the prolonged travel restrictions will continue to cause more damage to the EU economy, while slowing the recovery process after the epidemic, such as tourism.

Currently, people in many European countries have started to leave their homes after weeks of isolation but must strictly follow the sanitary regulations.
