Expect 11,000 MW of electricity by 2023 — Lai Mohammed


The national Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has just informed Nigerians that they should expect 11,000 megawatts of electricity by the year 2023, this is in accordance with the agreement it concluded with Siemens a German firm.

He added that the firm will be increasing the current 3,400 megawatts to 7,000 megawatts by the end of next year, 2021. And he also mentioned that the firm will increase it by 1,000 megawatts by the end of 2023 (phase 2) and then increased to 25,000 megawatts in the third phase.

According to reports the Nations current power generation capacity is more than 13,000 megawatts but only an average of 3,400 megawatts of this power generated is reliably reachable to customers. And in essence the current power quantity that reaches customers will automatically double up by the end of next year according to the Minister.

 The Minister added that this opportunity will create new thousands of jobs and will also lift the country into a new level of social and industrial development.
