On May 26, White House
press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that the Summit of the world's leading
group of industrialized countries (G7) is expected to be held at the White
House in late June.
Speaking at the White House
press conference, Ms. McEnany emphasized, President Donald Trump said that the
G7 Summit is the most typical example of the reopening in this transition
period, according to which this event has could take place near the end of June
in the White House. According to Ms. McEnany, foreign leaders will support
the conference at the White House.
As originally planned, the
G7 Summit, including Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US,
took place in June at Davis Camp.
Last March, the White House
said, due to outbreaks of acute respiratory infections Covid-19 outbreak, this
conference will be held in the form of online. However, after that, the
United States considered the situation and decided to hold the conference
directly as originally planned, but held in the White House instead of Camp
David.
Ms. McEnany previously said
that a face-to-face meeting will show strength and a sense of optimism, as
leaders work normally in the context of countries trying to overcome the
disease.
According to statistics
from Johns Hopkins University, the US has recorded more than 1.72 million cases
and more than 100,000 deaths due to Covid-19. Both numbers are much higher
than any other country or territory in the world.
