India: Leaked Gas, At Least 11 People Were Killed
At least 11 people were killed and hundreds were hospitalized
after a gas leak on Thursday night at a chemical plant in eastern India, local
authorities said, according to AFP.
The
incident occurred in the suburbs of Visakhapatnam, a port city in the Indian
state of Andhra Pradesh. AFP said the number of deaths may not have
stopped at the numbers that local officials said.
The
accident occurred after a gas leak from tanks in a complex owned by LG Chem,
South Korea, was shut down due to a blockade because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
