India: Leaked Gas, At Least 11 People Were Killed

At least 11 people were killed and hundreds were hospitalized after a gas leak on Thursday night at a chemical plant in eastern India, local authorities said, according to AFP.

The incident occurred in the suburbs of Visakhapatnam, a port city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. AFP said the number of deaths may not have stopped at the numbers that local officials said.

The accident occurred after a gas leak from tanks in a complex owned by LG Chem, South Korea, was shut down due to a blockade because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
