Kenyan Soldiers And Police Officer Exchange Fire After Mistaking Each Other For Terrorists


A police officer in Kenya and Two other Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers were involved in a shot out against each other and had seriously injured themselves after they misidentified themselves to be terrorists in Bura, the Garissa County.

The police officer who was later identified as Constable Emmanuel Ngao had according to reports felt challenged by the other two KDF soldiers who were also identified as Senior private David Mbugua and Jeremy Malusi who were on Patrol and had fired shot at them during a confrontation, they had also shot back at him in the process.

The Fafi Sub-County police chairman George Sangalo had confirmed this incident and also revealed that the three security officials had sustained injuries from the gunshots that were fired and has been rushed to the Bura East, Sub-County hospital all in critical conditions. 

The Police reports said that the constable was challenged because he had mistaken the Privates to be militants and had fired shots at them the soldiers had also replied to.

However the Garisa Police commander had revealed that a full report will be issued on the case after the already ongoing investigation on the case is concluded. It was also confirmed that the constable had left a female friend’s house before this incident occurred.
