Lagos May Record 120k Cases By July: Health Commissioner


Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has just reported that Lagos state may record between 90,000 to 120,000 cases of COVID-19 by July or August. He added that the cases in the state are expected to reach its peak at this period.

He revealed this information to the public during a press briefing today that was held in Alausa, Ikeja. He added that the state has just expanded its testing capacity to be able to reach a larger number of people in the state in order to fasten the flattening of the curve.

He added that 97% of cases at the isolation center were with mild and moderate symptoms. The commissioner also added that the state has concluded all necessary measures to commence clinical trials with hydroxychloroquine next week to treat COVID-19 patients.
