Nigerian Paralympic Champion, Oyema Gets 4-Year Ban, Loses Medal

A Nigerian Paralympic Champion, Esther Oyema, who is a Nigerian Para powerlifter, and also a Paralympic gold medalist has just been stripped off of her medal after she had violated an anti-doping rule, this information has just been released by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Due to this violation she has been stripped of her medal and also banned for four years.

A prohibited substance known as 19-norandrosterone was found in her urine sample which she had provided in January 28th, 2019, this was discovered After the Lagos 2019 International Para Powerlifting Competition in Nigeria.

She has won gold medal at London in 2012 during the women’s 48kg, and will now be ineligible for any competition for the next four years starting from May 3, 2019, to May 2, 2023, and would therefore miss the opportunity of Tokyo 2020.
