President Buhari Appoints Professor Godswill Obioma As The New NECO Registrar


President Muhammadu Buhari has just appointed Professor Godswill Obioma to be the new Registrar and also the Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO).

This decision was taken few days after the president sacked the former Registrar Professor Charles Uwakwe due to series of allegations which was labelled on him.

Mallam Adamu Adamu, who is the Minister of Education had also mentioned that the appointment of the new registrar for his tenure which is to last for five years will take effect as from the 14th of May, 2020.

According to a new report which was signed by the Head of Information and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani, the new Registrar has according to the report officially taken over the affairs of the Council from the former acting Registrar of the Council, Mallam Abubakar Gana on the 22nd of May, at the Council’s heard quarters in Minna, Niger State.

The new Registrar of NECO according to reports is a Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation as well as the previous Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council.

Before his appointment as the new Registrar of the Council was the Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
