President Trump fired the State Department Inspector General
The Trump administration
fired State Department Inspector General Steve Linick, who opened the
investigation into Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to The Guardian.
Inspector General Steve
Linick was informed of the decision to fire on Friday night (May 15). He
will be replaced by Stephen Akard, a close ally of Vice President Mike
Pence.
In a letter to the Speaker
of the House of Representatives, Mr. Trump said:
“It is important that I have absolute faith in the people who are appointed Inspector General. But that is no longer the case with this Inspector General. ”
