President Trump fired the State Department Inspector General

The Trump administration fired State Department Inspector General Steve Linick, who opened the investigation into Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to The Guardian.

Inspector General Steve Linick was informed of the decision to fire on Friday night (May 15). He will be replaced by Stephen Akard, a close ally of Vice President Mike Pence.

In a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Trump said:
“It is important that I have absolute faith in the people who are appointed Inspector General. But that is no longer the case with this Inspector General. ”
