Rivers State Relaxes Lockdown, Declares Wearing Of Face Masks In Public Compulsory

The government of Rivers state has just announced that it will be relaxing the lockdown in the state under the condition of compulsory face mask on everyone going to public places in the state.

The Governor of Rivers state, Governor Nyesom Wike had revealed this himself through his official twitter handle. He noted that the state’s Security Council are to meet within the next 24 hours to review and approve the necessary measures for mitigating the spread of the virus.

He also added that this might include deploying some government shuttle and buses which has been designated to public routes for free.

However, he noted that in accordance to the President’s decision to gradually reopen the country’s economy that the state after relaxing the lockdown will gradually restore business activities as well.

But until then he advises the people of rivers state to continue to maintain the social distancing order and also stay at home or wear face masks in public places to stay safe.
