On May 22, the US Central Command (CentCom) announced that the Syrian-led military alliance and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) led by the Kurds destroyed two leaders of the House. Islamic State (IS) declared itself during a raid in Eastern Syria.

CentCom said Ahmad 'Isa Ismail al-Zawi and Ahmad' Abd Muhammad Hasan al-Jughayfi were killed in a raid on May 17 against an IS base in Deir Ezzor province.

Al-Zawi, or Abu Ali al-Baghdadi, the IS leader in the North Baghdad region, is responsible for disseminating the instructions of the senior IS leaders to its facilities in North Baghdad.

Al-Jughayfi, or Abu Ammar, specializes in logistics, directing the trading and transportation of weapons and personnel across Iraq and Syria.

CentCom asserted that the destruction of these two names would contribute to reducing IS attacks against civilians and US security partners in the future.

In October 2019, US special forces launched a raid in Idlib province, northwestern Syria, and killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the supreme leader of the Islamic State, which has led the organization since 2014.

After losing most of its occupied territory in Syria, from March 2019, ISIS has clustered and conducted major attacks in vast deserts stretching from Deir Ezzor to Homs (Hom), the region Central Syria.
