The U.S. blocks Huawei's global chip supply

According to Reuters, the Trump administration on May 15 blocked global supply of chips by Chinese telecommunications company Huawei.

"This action puts the United States first, American companies come first and US national security is first."
A senior US Department of Commerce official told reporters in a brief meeting. 5/15.

U.S. Department of Commerce rules, effective May 15, require U.S. chip suppliers to seek U.S. government licenses before selling to Huawei.

Earlier, in 2019, Huawei was blacklisted by the U.S. Department of Commerce due to national security concerns, when Huawei products were supposed to be able to track users.
