The US Congressman Submitted A Bill That Forced China To Take Responsibility For The COVID-19 Pandemic

Congressman Mark Walker from North Carolina on May 12 introduced the Cage the Paper Tiger Act to hold China responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic.
"For decades, politicians in Washington have frustrated families in North Carolina and the whole country in providing answers to China's rise."

Said Walker, a former pastor, speaking in a press release
"We have allowed economic, human rights, and now violations of the global health of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) - against the harm of American workers and families - out of control for too long. It is time to put the paper tiger in the cage and show the world that China can only roar but not bite. ”
The new bill is named after a literal translation of the Chinese idiom Only Chi Lao Tiger, meaning someone or something that looks frightening but powerless in appearance, and includes measures to protect the interests of the American people.

The bill (pdf) includes three main points, including prohibiting Chinese businesses from being listed on US stock exchanges, allowing immediate deduction of expenses related to business relocation and production from China to the United States when determining corporate income tax.

The final point of the bill is to set up an anti-spy awareness training program for colleges and universities, and to request the Student Exchange Program to be improved by the US Immigration Department operate.

“These points include a clear and concise strategy to not only protect our country against national security threats from China, but also to prioritize and advance business interests of America.”
According to the press release.
This is not the first time Mr. Walker has led efforts to combat national security threats from China. Last October, a lawmaker from North Carolina introduced the Homeland Security Counterintelligence Threat Reduction Act, asking the US Homeland Security Secretary to set up a special task force responsibile to improve counterintelligence.

Senators are also trying to impose sanctions on China in an attempt to hold the country accountable for the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan last December that caused it to turn into a global pandemic.

Many senators from the Republican Party have co-sponsored the COVID-19 accountability Act that allows President Trump to take drastic measures, including imposing sanctions if Beijing does not provide full details of events leading to the outbreak of the Covid-19 in the country.
