CDC: The number of people infected with Covid-19 in the US can be 10 times higher than reported
Government experts say more
than 20 million Americans may have been infected with Covid-19, 10 times more
than the official figures released, which point out that many people have no
symptoms or background disease, according to Reuters.
The US Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention estimates based on serological tests to determine if the
antibody is infected.
The center official told a
small group of reporters on June 25 that the estimate was based on the number
of known cases, from 2.3 million to 2.4 million, multiplied by the average
antibody rate of 10. / 1 from serological test.
If this estimate is
correct, the mortality rate in the United States due to the epidemic may be
less. More than 120,000 Americans died from Covid-19 after the pandemic broke
out earlier this year.
The results came after
government officials said more new cases were appearing among young people who
showed no signs of infection or were unaware they were infected.
