FG To Reopens Schools For Only Graduating Students, Lifts Ban On Interstate Travels


The Federal government of Nigeria has just extended the easing of lockdown for the next 4 weeks, which is to begin from tomorrow Tuesday, June 30 to July 29.

This information was revealed during the Presidential taskforce daily briefing on COVID-19 situation in the country. Dr. Sani Aliyu the National Coordinator revealed that the easing of the lockdown is however accompanied by some rules.

He added that the ban on interstate travel will also be lifted from July 1st. But must only travel outside the curfew hours which is between 10pm and 4am.

He even added that anyone who is found without a facemask will not be allowed into any motor park and commercial busses will only be allowed to operate at a 50% capacity.

About the education sector, he said that schools will reopen nationwide only for those in graduating classes which includes the Primary Six, JSS3 and SSS3. He however emphasized that all Primary and daycare centers will remain closed till further notice, and that Secondary and Tertiary institutions will remain closed for the main time. 

Dr. Aliyu added that there will be safe reopening of airports for only domestic flights as soon as practicable, however Gyms, Bars, night clubs, cinemas and event centers are to remain closed till further notice.
