Singapore Approved Redemsivir To Treat COVID-19

On June 10, Singapore's Medical Science Agency (HSA) said it had approved a conditional license for Remdesivir antiviral drug by Gilead Sciences, allowing doctors to prescribe this drug in the regimen to treat some patients with COVID-19 in severe form.

According to CNA, the HSA's approval took place within 3 weeks after Gilead applied to register the Remdesivir drug in Singapore on May 22. Patients who may be on Redemsivir include those who have blood oxygen saturation levels of 94% or less, or who may need supplemental oxygen or more intensive breathing support such as breathing apparatus.

HSA is currently working with the Singapore Ministry of Health and relevant experts to better determine which groups of patients get the best treatment from this drug.
