US Companies Will Be Able To Work With Huawei On 5G
The US has made changes
to the restrictions so that American companies can now work with Huawei at 5G
standards.
Huawei, one of the
companies most affected by the ongoing trade wars between the US and China,
faced various sanctions by the US and Google, and the company was
prevented from doing business with American companies.
The US Department of
Commerce has changed the restrictions on American companies doing
business with Huawei, allowing them to work together to 5G standards.
In a statement from the
ministry, US Commerce Minister Wilbur Ross announced that it announced a new
rule that would further contribute to the standard development activities of
the US in the telecommunications industry.
With the new rule, it was
noted that the presence of Huawei in the Asset List would not prevent American
companies from contributing to important standard development activities that
the Chinese company also participated in.
Minister Ross, whose
comments were included in the statement, stated that the USA will not give up
its leadership in global innovation.
Ross emphasized that they
are determined to protect national security and foreign policy interests by
promoting the US presence in the industry so that US technologies become
international standards.
The USA put China's
technology company Huawei on the Asset List in 2019 on the grounds
that it poses a risk of violating national security.
According to the new
change, Huawei will continue to be on the US restriction list. However,
the Chinese company will be able to work with US companies to develop 5G.
