It was determined that 7 different VPN applications leaked personal data in Google Play Store.

VPN, the internet technology that enables connecting to different networks through remote access, encrypts your connection and prevents all the data you send and receive from being seen from the outside.

However, it was found that 7 different VPN applications in the Google Play Store leaked 1.2 terabytes of user data. Moreover, these applications include "UFO VPN", which has been downloaded more than 10 million in total.

Harmful VPN applications detected by technology research company  Compareitech; UFO VPN, FAST VPN, Free VPN, Super VPN, Flash VPN, Secure VPN and Rabbit VPN are listed.

The China-based UFO VPN app, available on the Google Play Store and App Store, turned out to have an open database containing 894 GB of data.

The user information contained in the database includes account passwords, IP addresses of client devices and servers, operating system used and many other data.

It is not known whether Google will remove these VPN applications from the Play Store. If you are using any of the above VPN applications, we recommend that you remove it immediately to protect your data.
