The US Senate has banned TikTok on government equipment
The US Senate's Homeland
Security and Government Affairs Committee has passed a bill banning the use of
TikTok on U.S. government devices.
The bill, drafted by
Republican Senator Josh Hawley, prohibited federal employees from using the
social networking app TikTok on U.S. government devices. This bill will be
put up to vote in the Senate.
The Homeland Security and
Government Affairs Committee of the US Senate on July 22 passed a bill
banning the application of TikTok on US government devices.

The U.S. House of
Representatives has previously passed a defense policy bill, including a
provision that prohibits federal employees from downloading the app on
government devices.
The US is concerned that
the TikTok application could steal users' personal information in the United
States and pass it on to Chinese government officials. Therefore, with
support in the bicameral parliament, TikTok will likely be banned soon in the
US on national security grounds.
