Third Mainland Bridge To be closed on Friday - FG

The federal government of Nigeria has just revealed that it will be closing the Third Mainland Bridge on Friday midnight and will only reopen it January 20201.

Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing while revealing this information on Tuesday 21st July stated that the maintenance of the busiest bridge in the country is in order to replace the damaged component of the bridge and ensure better motoring experience.

This maintenance is expected to be carried out on only 3.5 kilometers of the 11.8 kilometers of the bridge.

However, he acknowledged that the closure of the bride will lead to hardship and has called on all motorists to be patient with the government as the maintenance is for their betterment as it is better to bear 6 months of work and closure that to allow the bridge to fall which would take years to fix.
