Petrol Tanker Explosion In Imo State Leaves One Dead And Three Others Injured (photos)

 

One person has reportedly burned to death while three others were badly injured when a petro tanker exploded at a filling station at Irete Community which is along Owerri-Onisha Expressway in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state today, August 14th.

This latest development has been confirmed by the Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Imo state, Mr. Evans Ugoh.

He revealed that after discharging its content at the filling station, the petrol tanker was trying to reverse and make its way out of the filling station when it was hit by a J5 commercial bus which was actually carrying pineapples with high speed. It was also revealed that the J5 had lost control and rammed into the truck which caused the heavy explosion.

 Mr. Evans Ugoh also confirmed the death of the occupant of the J5 commercial bus, a lady who died on the spot while 3 others had sustain fatal injuries and has been rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. 

He however noted that the officials of the Imo state fire service, Red Cross, the Nigerian Police, Civil defense and NEMA officials are all ready for rescue operations at any time or day.
