President Muhammadu Buhari Orders NDDC To Pay Abandoned Scholarship Students Abroad

President Muhammadu Buhari has just given order to the NDDC to immediately pay its scholarship beneficiaries which are schooling abroad.

Some of the students who were awarded the NDDC scholarship staged a protest and cried out online and accused the NDDC of abandoning them and also forcing them to take menial jobs in order for them to survive.

The President of the Nation has now intervened on their case and immediately asked that they should be paid what they were promised.

In a statement which was signed by the NDDC Director, Corporate Affairs, Charles Odili, President Muhammadu Buhari issued the order to the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio after the abandoned students protest.

Charles Odili has promised that the students will be paid by the end of this week also explaining that the delay in payment was caused by the sudden death of Chief Ibanga Etang who was the then Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, EDFA of the commission back in May.

He added that under the commissions finance protocol it was only the Executive Director (Finance) and the Executive Director (projects) that are authoritated to sign for the release of said funds from the commissions domiciliary accounts with the CBN.

He also emphasized that the President, who was earlier briefed on the protest by the students at the Nigerian High Commission in London, ordered for all stops to be pulled immediately to ensure the payment of the students by the end of this week.

It is expected that a new EDFA will be appointed this week and as such when this is done the payment of the student is expected as well.
