FG Approves Phased Reopening Of Schools

The federal government of Nigeria has just given approval to the reopening of schools in the country as well as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camps across the country.

Dr. Sani Aliyu who is the National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 revealed this information earlier today, Thursday, during the press daily briefing in Abuja.

“For educational institutions which include daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Educational institutions should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening within this phase.”

he said.

“However, we strongly recommend that states conduct risk assessment to ensure all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring mechanism to assess, create, and monitor this level of preparedness.”

This information is coming in almost 6 months after shutting down schools in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

The taskforce has also directed that all state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full reopening of schools.

He also revealed that only public workers from level 12 and above are allowed to go back to work.
