The United States Announced It Would Restore UN Measures Against Iran From September 20

The United States declared that all UN sanctions against Iran would have to be restored on September 20.

The administration of US President Donald Trump announced that all United Nations sanctions against Iran would have to be restored at 0:00 on September 20 (international time GMT) and arms embargo, targeting Iran will continue to extend after the deadline in mid-October next.

The US administration said earlier that it would consider reinstating UN sanctions against Iran, most of which are related to arms trade starting tonight, and warned to intensify adding new sanctions.

However, most countries members of the United Nations Security Council believe that the deadline set by the US tonight does not make sense. According to diplomats, there will be very few countries following the United States, as 13 out of 15 countries on the UN Security Council oppose the extension of the arms embargo against Iran.

It is known that right before the US announced that it would re-impose sanctions on Iran, three European countries, Britain, France, and Germany, issued a statement confirming any decisions or actions to restore. UN sanctions against Iran "will have no legal effect".

Countries are currently working to ensure that the Iran nuclear deal is maintained and will continue to do so.
